Power BI Optimization Consultant

Job Summary

Seeking a part-time hourly Power BI Optimization Consultant, the ideal candidate will manage the optimization of large, complex Power BI semantic models, focusing on improving refresh reliability, reducing model size, and enhancing long-term performance in a remote engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Audit and evaluate large Power BI semantic models to identify performance improvement opportunities
• Recommend and implement model optimization strategies, including star schema redesign and normalization
• Provide documentation and guidance for internal teams on optimized models and maintenance strategies

Required qualifications

• Proven experience optimizing large-scale Power BI semantic models
• Strong understanding of Power BI model architecture, DAX, M query, and VertiPaq
• Experience auditing complex Power BI environments
• Practical knowledge of star schema design and fact/dimension modeling
• Ability to work within Power BI Pro constraints without relying on Premium capacity
