Pre-Arrival Financial Advocate

Job Summary

To support patient financial planning, the full-time Pre-Arrival Financial Advocate will calculate personalized financial estimates, communicate patient liabilities, and assist uninsured patients with funding applications in a remote setting from Monday to Friday.

Key responsibilities

• Calculates and provides patients with personalized estimates of their financial responsibilities based on insurance coverage
• Requests upfront payments and establishes payment arrangements for self-pay amounts prior to scheduled services
• Interviews uninsured patients to assess financial needs and coordinates assistance programs and applications for coverage

Required qualifications

• High School Graduate or equivalent (GED/HSED)
• Typically requires 2 years of experience in Patient Access, healthcare, insurance, or customer service
• Basic medical coding knowledge
• Solid understanding of insurance operations related to denials and appeals processes
• Ability to articulate HIPAA and EMTALA regulations as they relate to patient interactions
