Prescription Prior Authorization Specialist

Job Summary

Working remotely in a full-time capacity, the Prescription Prior Authorization Specialist will manage the submission of prior authorizations to ensure patients receive their prescriptions in a timely manner while verifying insurance coverage and maintaining accurate documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Submit prior authorizations to insurance companies via various communication methods and address patient inquiries regarding the authorization process
• Verify insurance coverage and prescription formularies to ensure payment for prescriptions
• Maintain accurate documentation of authorizations and work closely with insurance companies, pharmacies, and providers to resolve authorization issues

Required qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Experience with personal computers, including word processing and electronic spreadsheets
• One year or more of experience in office work is preferred
• Knowledge of chemical dependency and its effects on individuals, families, and communities
• Proficiency in eClinicalWorks is a plus
