Job Summary
As the senior technical anchor for Active Defense, the full-time Principal Active Defense Engineer will set the technical direction for threat detection, lead complex initiatives from concept to production, and mentor team members while working remotely.
Key responsibilities
- Set the technical direction and architecture for detection methodologies and design standards
- Lead large initiatives from concept through to live operation, ensuring validation and documentation
- Mentor engineers through design and code reviews to elevate the team's technical capabilities
Required qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in software, platform, or security engineering with a focus on detection capabilities
- Proven technical leadership as an individual contributor, setting direction and leading multi-system initiatives
- Expertise in a general-purpose programming language such as Python, Java, or JavaScript for building detection logic
- Experience architecting a detections-as-code pipeline or production data pipeline for other engineers to build upon
- Familiarity with SIEM platforms like Splunk and experience in public cloud application development and security
