Principal AI Engineer

Job Summary

To drive the development of the inference and intelligence layer of the platform, the full-time Principal AI Engineer will design and implement a domain knowledge graph, manage hybrid retrieval systems, and oversee model serving and LLM integration while collaborating with cross-functional teams in a hybrid work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design and operate the domain ontology and knowledge graph for tax-related entities and relationships
• Develop and manage hybrid retrieval systems that integrate graph traversal, vector search, and structured queries
• Build and maintain model serving infrastructure for real-time inference and ensure compliance-grade AI outputs

Required qualifications

• 10+ years in software engineering with expertise in information retrieval, knowledge representation, or distributed systems
• 5+ years in ML engineering or AI platform development
• Production experience with knowledge graphs and structured reasoning systems
• Strong Python engineering skills; production experience with Node/TypeScript is a plus
• Ability to design systems from first principles in ambiguous environments
