Principal AI Engineer

Job Summary

Leading the end-to-end system design and architectural framework, the full-time remote Principal AI Engineer will integrate intelligent agents into Workday's platform, focusing on AI orchestration and product delivery while ensuring data privacy and reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and design complex agentic workflows, integrating foundational AI models into enterprise-grade software
• Optimize application performance by addressing constraints such as latency and reliability in AI systems
• Champion Responsible AI by implementing governance and security measures for handling sensitive HR and financial data

Required qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including expertise in distributed systems and cloud computing, with a focus on production-grade LLM systems
• 3+ years of hands-on experience integrating large models and AI APIs into user-facing products
• 2+ years of experience designing AI orchestration architectures and advanced pipelines
• 6+ years of experience optimizing application performance, particularly in relation to modern LLM constraints
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field; Master's preferred
