Principal AI Engineer
Job Summary
Shaping the future of AI-assisted engineering, the full-time Principal AI Engineer will design and evolve core data extraction and load infrastructure for a remote-first startup, focusing on integrating AI tools responsibly while mentoring engineers and driving modernization of legacy systems.
Key responsibilities
- Own platform architecture by designing and evolving data extraction, load, and pipeline systems for 500+ integrations
- Lead the modernization of legacy systems into scalable, AI-native infrastructure
- Mentor engineers on AI-assisted development practices and collaborate cross-functionally on new integration capabilities
Required qualifications
- 7+ years of backend engineering experience, including 2 years in a principal/architect-level role
- Proven experience designing and scaling complex systems
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development and building agentic frameworks
- Strong background in distributed systems, including Kubernetes and workflow orchestration
- Solid SQL skills and query optimization experience across PostgreSQL and ClickHouse
