Job Summary
Driving applied AI research and algorithmic innovation, the full-time remote Principal AI/ML Research Engineer will lead the development of state-of-the-art models and architectures to address complex challenges in commerce and fintech, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to transition experimental models into production.
Key responsibilities
- Design self-supervised pre-training strategies and develop multi-purpose embeddings for various applications such as fraud detection and credit risk
- Lead applied research in adapting Transformer architectures to create enterprise-grade Payment Foundation Models tailored to transaction streams
- Establish benchmarks and evaluation protocols for AI models, ensuring compliance with ethical standards and data privacy regulations
Required qualifications
- 12+ years of experience in software/ML engineering, with 5+ years in applied AI/ML research and model architecture design
- Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field preferred
- Deep expertise in Transformer models and self-supervised pre-training techniques applied to financial datasets
- Proficiency in Python and deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow; experience in C++ or Java is a plus
- Hands-on experience with cloud environments (AWS/Azure) and ML platforms like SageMaker or Databricks
