Principal Architect, IP Core

Job Summary

To support the expansion of a state-of-the-art fiber network, the full-time remote Principal Architect, IP Core will design the core and metro network architecture, manage capacity engineering, and ensure operational efficiency across Ziply Fiber's backbone infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Own the IP core architecture, including BGP topology design, MPLS/SR-MPLS strategy, and upstream peering policies
• Design metro Ethernet and aggregation ring architecture, defining handoff standards and redundancy models
• Manage core-to-metro capacity engineering and traffic management, ensuring alignment with subscriber demand and operational standards

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Telecommunications, or related field, or equivalent experience
• 10+ years of IP network engineering experience with expert-level knowledge in routing and switching
• Demonstrated experience in setting IP architecture standards and influencing technical direction
• Deep expertise in BGP and MPLS, including traffic engineering and design
• Experience with metro Ethernet and carrier aggregation topologies, including EVPN and QinQ
