Principal Architect, Transport

Job Summary

As a hands-on senior independent contributor, the full-time remote Principal Architect, Transport will define transport topology, drive capacity planning, and architect infrastructure for Ziply's fiber network expansion, focusing on dark fiber routes, DWDM infrastructure, and data center interconnects.

Key responsibilities:

• Design and own long-haul and regional dark fiber route architecture, including route diversity and redundancy standards
• Architect DWDM and coherent optical infrastructure, including capacity planning and traffic forecasting
• Manage relationships with co-location providers and define strategies for data center interconnects

Required qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience
• 10+ years of experience in transport network engineering or optical networking within an ISP or telecommunications environment
• Deep expertise in DWDM/ROADM platforms and strong background in dark fiber operations
• Experience with transport capacity planning and traffic engineering at a regional or national scale
• Solid knowledge of OTN/FlexGrid architecture and experience with co-location and DCI strategy
