Principal Backend Engineer

Job Summary

To support a growing platform, the full-time Principal Backend Engineer will architect and operate high-scale distributed systems, focusing on backend services and data infrastructure in a remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Architect, build, and operate high-scale distributed systems for Docker Hub's registry platform
• Design and implement backend services with an emphasis on scalability, resilience, and performance
• Improve performance and reliability of container image repositories while enhancing observability and operational tooling

Required qualifications

• 10+ years of backend engineering experience with expertise in distributed systems and large-scale architectures
• Strong production experience with Golang and Kubernetes in cloud environments
• Experience designing and managing high-scale storage systems like PostgreSQL or DynamoDB
• Familiarity with event-driven or streaming systems such as Kafka or SNS/SQS
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
