Job Summary
Driving architectural roadmaps for backend systems, the full-time remote Principal Backend Engineer will architect and lead the strategic decomposition of a mature Django application into scalable microservices while defining technical strategies and establishing best practices for integrations.
Key responsibilities
- Architect and lead the strategic decomposition of existing applications into asynchronous microservices
- Define technical strategy, tech stack, and code organization across repositories
- Design robust and standardized APIs, ensuring backend resilience and performance
Required qualifications
- Expert knowledge of modern backend infrastructure and asynchronous messaging/storage technologies
- Solid foundation in Python or deep expertise in Go/C++/Rust with working knowledge of Python
- Extensive experience designing complex, distributed systems in principal-level roles
- Strong background in designing client APIs and understanding cloud architecture
- Demonstrated ability to influence engineering practices and lead architectural transitions
