Principal Cloud Database Engineer

Job Summary

Driving architecture and engineering initiatives, the full-time Principal Cloud Database Engineer will lead modernization efforts on enterprise-scale database platforms using Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services, while integrating AI-driven capabilities and ensuring best practices in security and performance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead architecture design and engineering for GCP relational database platforms, including Cloud SQL and AlloyDB
• Implement enterprise database standards and drive modernization initiatives, including database migrations to GCP
• Integrate AI/ML capabilities into database platforms and consult with application teams to enable data pipelines for AI/ML workloads

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field
• 10+ years of experience in relational database engineering (PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MySQL, AlloyDB, or Spanner)
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with GCP, particularly Cloud SQL and AlloyDB
• Strong expertise in database platform automation, design, and performance tuning
• Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools like Terraform
