Principal Data Engineer

Job Summary

A company is looking for a Principal Data Engineer to lead the technical direction and execution of its data engineering platform.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect and contribute to core platform components, including ingestion pipelines and data models
• Define and evolve the technical roadmap for the data platform, balancing new capabilities and reliability investments
• Mentor engineers and set engineering best practices to enhance team performance and code quality

Required Qualifications

• At least 8 years of experience in data engineering, with 2+ years at a principal or staff level
• Proven ability to design and evaluate end-to-end data platforms across various components
• Deep understanding of data pipeline design and data modeling strategies
• Strong experience with cloud data infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams and grow engineers without relying on formal authority
