Principal Data Engineer

Job Summary

Seeking a Principal Data Engineer/Technical Lead to work remotely in a full-time capacity, responsible for designing high-performance database operations, mentoring a team of engineers, and optimizing system performance for enterprise customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical direction and mentorship to a team of 3-5 engineers while conducting code reviews and fostering professional growth
• Design and implement Data Access Layers and middleware to ensure modularity and flexibility across different data storage mechanisms
• Architect and scale a secure MongoDB ecosystem, optimizing query performance and leading strategies for high availability

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science; Master's preferred
• 10+ years of experience in backend, data, or platform engineering with a focus on latency and implementation challenges
• 2+ years of experience in a Technical Lead or Player-Coach role, with hands-on coding experience
• Deep proficiency with SQL databases (Postgres), MongoDB, and building Data Access Layers
• High proficiency in Node.js or other major backend languages, with experience in cloud platforms and distributed systems
