Principal Data Engineer

Job Summary

Seeking a full-time Principal Data Engineer to tackle complex data engineering challenges and shape enterprise-wide data architecture while working remotely, focusing on designing and implementing scalable data solutions on Databricks and Azure, mentoring engineers, and driving architectural best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement end-to-end data architectures using Lakehouse patterns on Databricks and Azure
• Mentor data engineers through code reviews, pairing, and direct coaching to elevate technical standards
• Embed across Data Engineering teams to lead critical projects, identify risks, and ensure high-quality outcomes

Required Qualifications:

• Extensive data engineering experience with a proven track record of delivering production-grade data platforms at scale
• Near-expert proficiency with Databricks and the Azure data ecosystem
• Experience designing and implementing complex, enterprise-scale data architectures
• Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and influence technical excellence without direct reports
• Familiarity with modern data architecture patterns and DataOps practices
