Principal Data Engineer

Job Summary

To support a growing data platform, the full-time Principal Data Engineer will define technical vision and architecture, provide mentorship across engineering teams, and lead platform modernization initiatives while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Define the long-term technical vision and architecture for the Data Platform in collaboration with cross-functional leaders
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship, influencing architectural decisions and raising engineering standards
• Lead complex platform modernization initiatives and establish organization-wide standards for data architecture and engineering quality

Required qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in data engineering with a proven track record of defining technical strategy
• Experience with cloud environments such as AWS or GCP
• Demonstrated ability to build and operate highly available, distributed systems for large data sets
• Strong experience in writing complex SQL and ETL development
• Familiarity with modern software development practices, including CI/CD tooling and infrastructure-as-code
