Principal Data Engineer

Job Summary

To support a growing data engineering team, the full-time Principal Data Engineer will architect and build a unified data platform using Databricks and Azure, while managing and mentoring a team of 3-5 offshore data engineers in a remote work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and build a multi-tenant data platform that integrates data from over 10 product lines, ensuring scalability and flexibility for future acquisitions
• Directly manage and mentor a small team of offshore data engineers, establishing engineering standards and practices
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the data platform supports business growth and compliance requirements

Required qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in data engineering or data architecture with hands-on coding expertise
• Expert-level experience with Databricks and the Azure data ecosystem
• Strong proficiency in SQL and Python (PySpark), with experience in debugging Spark jobs
• Experience designing data platforms for both transactional and analytical workloads
• Prior experience leading or mentoring engineers, with a genuine interest in transitioning to a people-management role
