Principal Data Engineer

Job Summary

Leading the technical direction for data architecture, the full-time remote Principal Data Engineer will design and implement robust data pipelines, drive architectural decisions, and enable machine learning at scale while ensuring data governance and quality across the platform.

Key responsibilities

• Drive architectural decisions and champion the adoption of a modern data stack, ensuring platform reliability and operational readiness
• Build production-grade data pipelines and establish data modeling standards to support analytics and machine learning initiatives
• Implement data governance standards and protect data integrity while collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet data requirements

Required qualifications

• 10+ years of data engineering experience, with 3-5 years at a principal or staff IC level in a start-up environment
• Production-grade experience with Snowflake and dbt, including designing and scaling these technologies
• Hands-on experience with real-time streaming technologies such as KSQL or Apache Flink
• Expert-level proficiency in Python and SQL, with a strong background in data modeling and distributed systems
• Demonstrated experience in building data infrastructure that supports ML/AI systems and implementing data governance practices
