Principal Data Engineer

Job Summary

To establish the data foundation for a clinical AI platform, the full-time Principal Data Engineer will set technical direction for data architecture and engineering, manage PHI data pipelines on AWS, and ensure compliance and quality across clinical AI initiatives in a remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Set technical direction and architecture standards for the clinical data platform, enabling production-grade AI systems
• Manage the end-to-end PHI data pipeline on AWS, including security measures and compliance-grade audit trails
• Mentor senior engineers and represent the clinical data platform in cross-functional forums, translating business requirements into technical architecture

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience
• 12+ years of experience with big data and cloud technologies, primarily AWS
• Proficiency in implementing production data pipelines using SQL, Spark, and Python
• Experience with healthcare data and familiarity with clinical documentation and coding
• Deep expertise in data modeling across relational, graph, and document paradigms
