Principal Data Platform Engineer

Job Summary

To support the establishment of a new data and AI platform for federal background investigations, the contract Principal Data Platform Engineer will design and build the data architecture, implement infrastructure-as-code, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Design and establish the organization's data and AI platform architecture, including compute, storage, and lakehouse foundation
• Implement infrastructure-as-code using Terraform and build CI/CD pipelines for data environment promotion
• Establish data governance, including cataloging, lineage, and fine-grained access control for analysis-ready data products

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field, computer science, software engineering, or equivalent experience
• 8-10 years of experience in data engineering or data platform engineering with principal-level ownership
• Proficiency in Python and SQL, along with hands-on experience with a major cloud provider (Azure preferred)
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) and CI/CD for data workloads
• U.S. citizenship is required
