Principal Database Engineer

Job Summary

Driving the design and execution of scalable data systems, the remote Principal Database Infrastructure Engineer will manage distributed query execution, worker coordination at scale, and performance engineering to enhance VideoAmp's platform.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement distributed query execution plans and maintain result exchange paths
• Lead the development of load balancing protocols and worker coordination strategies
• Optimize query performance and storage strategies, ensuring system reliability and efficiency

Required qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering with a focus on database infrastructure or distributed systems
• Strong systems programming skills in Rust, C++, or Go, with experience in async runtimes
• Proven experience building or modifying distributed data systems, including query engines or data pipelines
• Fluency with columnar formats and vectorized execution, such as Arrow and Parquet
• Strong understanding of distributed systems fundamentals and performance engineering principles
