Principal Design Technologist

Job Summary

Owning the AI design tooling for builders across Zillow, the full-time remote Principal Design Technologist will unify scattered AI design tools, evolve the design system, and enable other disciplines to develop their own AI tooling, while driving adoption and shaping broader strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Unify ZxD's AI design tooling into a coherent, supported stack with clear guidelines
• Partner with teams to evolve the design system and maintain AI-generated UI standards
• Build enablement layers to facilitate infrastructure adoption and track user feedback for continuous improvement

Required qualifications

• 8+ years of relevant experience in design and front-end engineering
• Production experience shipping internal-facing tooling that improved team workflows
• Strong fluency with modern AI coding tools and their effective integration in codebases
• Proficient in front-end engineering, including opening PRs in design system codebases
• Demonstrated ability to communicate technical work clearly to senior leaders across disciplines
