Principal Engineer

Job Summary

Seeking a Principal Engineer to join the Disease Management team in a full-time remote role, responsible for setting technical direction, owning platform architecture, and ensuring production reliability across services and infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Own the backend and platform architecture, including service boundaries and public API surface
• Author and maintain architecture and design records, ensuring traceability through verification
• Drive production reliability and observability, establishing metrics, error budgets, and actionable alerting

Required qualifications

• Deep backend engineering experience with Python, FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, and AWS or equivalent modern stack
• Proven ability to design distributed systems and API architectures with a focus on observability and reliability
• Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform) and managing production environments
• Strong technical writing skills to communicate complex systems to diverse audiences
• Familiarity with health-regulated software and healthcare data interoperability standards
