Principal Engineer

Job Summary

Acting as the CTO's technical right hand, the full-time remote Principal Engineer will translate complex concepts into reliable solutions, oversee contractor teams, and drive the transition from Salesforce to an internally-built platform while ensuring high-quality outcomes and compliance with healthcare standards.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the operational counterpart to the CTO, converting technical vision into execution plans and team assignments
• Own initiatives from concept through production, leveraging AI-assisted development for efficient delivery
• Direct and quality-check work from contractors and vendors, ensuring project standards and usability expectations are met

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
• Proven track record of delivering production systems end-to-end in a hands-on engineering role
• Experience in fast-paced, high-autonomy environments with limited structure
• Demonstrated ability to oversee or collaborate with contractors and distributed teams
• Familiarity with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA and PHI, or ability to quickly learn compliance requirements
