Principal Engineer

Job Summary

Driving technical direction and engineering strategy, the full-time remote Principal Engineer will establish the engineering vision for the QMARS team, focusing on developer experience and platform observability while maintaining and improving software for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

Key responsibilities

• Establish and communicate the engineering vision and strategy across enterprise platforms
• Build and maintain scalable solutions that enhance developer experience and platform observability
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to modernize and improve software systems for CMS programs

Required qualifications

• Experience with AWS CDK and CloudFormation
• Proficiency in AWS services such as API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3, SQS, and SNS
• Strong understanding of networking and routing, including VPN and DNS troubleshooting
• Familiarity with AWS EKS and Kubernetes
• Ability to hold a position of Public Trust, including successful completion of a US Government background investigation
