Principal Engineer

Job Summary

Seeking a Principal Engineer to provide senior technical leadership in a hybrid role, primarily focused on the architectural direction and protocol expertise of the FusionAuth platform, while engaging with enterprise customers and contributing to high-quality production code.

Key responsibilities

• Write, review, and own high-quality, secure production code while leading the architectural evolution of the platform
• Serve as a go-to expert on CIAM protocols such as OAuth 2.x, OIDC, SCIM, and SAML, guiding implementation and answering technical questions
• Engage directly with enterprise customers on architectural and integration design decisions, translating complex CIAM concepts clearly

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent technical experience
• 12+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 5+ years focused on identity, authentication, or security
• Proven hands-on development experience alongside architectural responsibilities
• Expertise in CIAM protocols including OAuth 2.x, OIDC, SCIM, and SAML
• Experience with enterprise-grade distributed systems and software deployment in self-hosted or cloud environments
