Principal Engineer
Job Summary
Bringing deep technical leadership to the Hosting platform, the full-time remote Principal Engineer will set architectural standards, design large-scale backend services, and drive site reliability engineering practices while mentoring engineers and shaping technical roadmaps.
Key responsibilities
- Set technical direction and architecture standards for backend and infrastructure systems across the Hosting organization
- Design and evolve large-scale Python backend services running on Linux, backed by MySQL at production scale
- Lead root-cause analysis on complex production issues and mentor senior engineers to enhance technical capabilities within the team
Required qualifications
- 10+ years of backend/infrastructure engineering experience with expertise in hosting platforms
- Expert-level knowledge of Python and Linux systems at production scale
- Strong MySQL expertise, including performance tuning and large-scale troubleshooting
- Hands-on experience in Perl and cPanel environments, with a proven track record of modernizing legacy systems
- Preferred background in Site Reliability Engineering and infrastructure practices for systemic resilience
