Principal Engineer, Card Readers

Job Summary

As a technical leader, the full-time remote Principal Engineer, Card Readers will design, develop, and maintain POS payment integrations while collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive technical decisions and define target architecture for payment solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute technical strategies to address complex business challenges using data and customer insights
• Architect and design high-performance applications in Kotlin, focusing on security, speed, and reliability
• Lead agile development processes and mentor engineers to foster a culture of continuous improvement and engineering excellence

Required qualifications

• Expert-level proficiency in Kotlin, Java, and/or JVM languages with experience in multi-threading and concurrency
• Fluency with card payments, particularly EMV standards and technology
• Experience with large Android projects, focusing on modularity, reusability, and testability
• Track record of successful complex SDK integrations and expertise in security and key management best practices
• Strong mentoring skills and openness to using AI tools to enhance development productivity
