Principal Engineer, Data Infrastructure

Job Summary

To support a rapidly growing data infrastructure, the full-time Principal Engineer, Data Infrastructure will manage end-to-end ownership of database systems, lead performance optimizations, and build tooling for data management, all while working remotely.

Key responsibilities:

• Oversee the database and data warehousing infrastructure, including MySQL, Postgres, and Redshift, ensuring KPIs and SLAs are met
• Lead optimizations for database and query performance while integrating new technologies to enhance data processing capabilities
• Collaborate with development teams to ensure efficient data queries and support data engineers in optimizing warehouse performance

Required qualifications:

• 12+ years of experience in DBA, SRE, or Data Engineering roles with a proven track record of scaling production-grade systems
• Deep expertise in MySQL, Postgres, and AWS Redshift, including performance tuning and workload management
• Advanced proficiency in SQL and strong hands-on experience with ETL/ELT frameworks like DBT and AWS DMS
• Strong understanding of data modeling, distributed systems, and warehouse/lake design patterns
• Experience with AI tools, such as Claude, for enhancing productivity and communication
