Job Summary

As a Principal Engineer, Data Platform, the full-time role will design and lead the modernization of the GCS Data Warehouse, transitioning from Cloudera to a modern lakehouse architecture while ensuring data governance and correctness at petabyte scale, with the flexibility to work remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Design the GCS Data Warehouse and lead the migration strategy from Cloudera to a modern lakehouse architecture
• Establish a portable architecture that meets compliance requirements across commercial and regulated environments
• Set the technical vision and standards for the platform, ensuring reliability, observability, and production readiness

Required qualifications

• 15+ years of experience in software or data engineering with a Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience
• Proven experience leading large data platform migrations from legacy systems to modern architectures
• Deep expertise in modern data stack technologies such as Trino, Iceberg, and dbt
• Experience architecting for regulated cloud environments with distinct compliance requirements
• Hands-on experience with streaming ingestion and change data capture from transactional databases
