Job Summary

As a key technical leader, the full-time remote Principal Engineer, Governance will define and drive the technical strategy for schema and metadata governance systems, focusing on scalability, reliability, and integration across the Confluent Streaming Platform.

Key responsibilities

• Define and drive technical strategy for governance systems, ensuring long-term innovation
• Architect high-performance metadata management systems for low-latency lookups and consistency
• Design data protection capabilities, including encryption and schema validation, across the platform

Required qualifications

• Proven track record in leading architecture and delivery of large-scale distributed systems
• Comprehensive knowledge of fault tolerance, consistency, and scalability in cloud-native platforms
• Experience with streaming or event-driven architectures and related governance systems
• Strong ability to influence executives and navigate ambiguity in technical environments
• Demonstrated ability to implement high-level visions into detailed technical outcomes
