Principal Engineer, Grid Interconnection

Job Summary

Leading the technical execution of generation interconnection processes, the full-time Staff/Principal Engineer, Grid Interconnection will manage interconnection applications and studies for thermal energy storage projects across multiple RTOs/ISOs, ensuring project feasibility and compliance while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end interconnection process, including application preparation and milestone tracking across various RTOs/ISOs
• Develop and maintain single-line diagrams and conduct technical studies to evaluate system impacts of proposed interconnections
• Direct external engineering consultants, ensuring technical rigor and adherence to project schedules and budgets

Required qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in power systems engineering or interconnection studies with direct experience in RTO/ISO applications
• Proficiency in developing single-line diagrams and conducting load flow, stability, and dynamic studies
• Strong understanding of FERC, NERC, and RTO/ISO interconnection processes and tariffs
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems focus) or related field
• Experience managing external engineering consultants on technical deliverables
