Principal Engineer - Payments

Job Summary

Shaping the technical direction of the payments platform, the full-time Principal Engineer - Payments will design and deliver scalable payment solutions, support engineering teams in building resilient systems, and engage in architecture discussions, all while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Shape the technical direction of the payments platform, contributing to architecture and engineering best practices
• Design and deliver scalable, secure, and cost-effective payment solutions aligned with platform direction
• Act as a senior technical advisor across engineering teams, supporting technical decisions within the payments domain

Required qualifications

• Strong experience working on payment systems, including integrations with PSPs, gateways, or acquirers
• Experience designing and evolving distributed systems and microservices architectures
• Proven ability to operate at Principal or Staff level, shaping technical direction across multiple teams
• Strong experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS, and modern infrastructure practices
• Familiarity with engineering standards, architecture patterns, or platform direction
