Principal Engineer, Payments Infrastructure

Job Summary

To support the evolution of core payments infrastructure, the full-time remote Principal Engineer, Payments Infrastructure will own the architecture and integration of payment systems, tokenization, and merchant-facing solutions while directly engaging with merchants and processor partners.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the integration architecture for processors, gateways, and vaults, ensuring consistent and observable transaction behavior
• Drive product direction for payments by engaging with merchants, analyzing decline data, and managing the entire development lifecycle from discovery to rollout
• Design merchant-facing surfaces and manage payment method portability, ensuring seamless user experiences and operational efficiency

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in building and shipping production software with a hands-on engineering background
• Proven product judgment with a track record of defining and executing features based on customer evidence
• Deep experience in payments, including tokenization and wallet management, at a payments-focused company
• Experience with multi-processor integration and ownership of authorization and approval-rate improvements
• Strong incident ownership experience in production environments, including communication and resolution of payment issues
