Job Summary
As the founding hardware hire, the full-time Principal Hardware Engineer will focus on board architecture and design, silicon selection, and bring-up of custom ARM-based hardware in a remote environment, ensuring reliability and security standards are met.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee board architecture and design, including schematic capture and PCB layout, ensuring high-speed digital integrity and compliance with safety standards
- Lead bring-up and validation processes, establishing test points and production test paths while managing relationships with fabrication and assembly partners
- Implement reliability, security, and safety measures in design, preparing for future certification and maintaining traceability throughout the development process
Required qualifications
- Experience designing and shipping multiple custom digital boards, including at least one embedded Linux-class board from a major ARM vendor
- Proven competence in high-speed digital design, including impedance-controlled routing and power integrity analysis
- Hands-on experience with bench bring-up and debugging using scopes, logic analyzers, and JTAG
- Familiarity with functional safety or airworthiness standards such as ISO 26262, DO-254, or IEC 61508
- Expertise in utilizing Claude Code workflows in hardware engineering
