Principal IAM Engineer

Job Summary

Providing senior technical leadership for a Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM) platform, the remote Principal IAM Engineer Consultant will design and deliver secure identity capabilities while guiding engineering teams and ensuring technical consistency across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop engineering-level solution designs for CIAM initiatives, including architecture, integration patterns, and security controls
• Partner with cross-functional teams to align technical solutions with business priorities and manage technical delivery activities
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring, reinforcing secure coding practices and identifying engineering risks and security gaps

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive software engineering or identity engineering experience at a Senior, Lead, Staff, or Principal Engineer level
• Deep hands-on expertise in designing and implementing CIAM solutions for customer-facing applications at enterprise scale
• Expert knowledge of modern identity platforms such as Ping Identity, ForgeRock, Okta, or Microsoft Entra
• Experience producing engineering-level design documentation, including OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, and SAML federation
• Strong understanding of secure software engineering, Zero Trust principles, and cloud-native identity architectures
