Job Summary
Working remotely, the full-time Principal Linux Engineer will build, patch, and test userspace packages for Rocky Linux, enhance tooling and automation in the package-building process, and collaborate with various teams to improve customer experience and software quality.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and optimize Linux OS packages while remediating CVEs in RPM packages
- Collaborate with engineering, product, and open-source community teams on architecture discussions and project documentation
- Implement automated testing and support deployment across standard server architectures and cloud infrastructure
Required qualifications
- Understanding of Linux OS packaging (RPM or DEB) and experience with Linux administration
- Familiarity with CVEs and their remediation in older code versions
- Proven experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD tools and processes
- Proficiency in Bash, YAML, XML, JSON, REST APIs/OpenAPI, and HTTP methods
- At least 4 years of experience supporting Linux and 2 years building Linux packages
