Job Summary
Leading high-impact research and applied algorithm development, the remote Principal Machine Learning Scientist will focus on predicting member health trajectories and designing intervention algorithms to improve healthcare outcomes while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the development of health trajectory models using real-world longitudinal healthcare data to predict future member states and risks
- Design next-best-action algorithms that translate predicted trajectories into actionable intervention decisions tailored to individual member contexts
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship in advanced methods, ensuring rigorous evaluation and production readiness of research outputs
Required qualifications
- Ph.D. in Computer Science, Statistics, Machine Learning, Biostatistics, Applied Mathematics, or a related quantitative field; a Master's with significant experience may be considered
- Multiple years of experience in machine learning research or applied research science, with a proven track record of developing novel algorithms or impactful ML systems
- Deep expertise in time-series modeling, healthcare prediction, recommender systems, reinforcement learning, or causal inference
- Strong proficiency in Python and experience deploying models in cloud environments such as AWS SageMaker
- Ability to translate complex business questions into technical problems and communicate effectively with non-technical stakeholders
