Principal Payments Engineer
Job Summary
To centralize and enhance payments infrastructure, the full-time Principal Payments Engineer will manage the architecture for money movement, ensuring reliability and correctness while working remotely.
Key responsibilities
- Guarantee correctness at scale by defining execution standards for payment processes
- Design internal and external API contracts for partners and teams to ensure compatibility and reliability
- Direct the architecture for multi-rail money movement and oversee batching, funding, and reconciliation processes
Required qualifications
- 12+ years of experience building production payments or financial systems with significant GMV
- Direct experience designing or operating a double-entry ledger in production
- Proven ability to build idempotent, exactly-once payment flows in high-throughput systems
- Experience with distributed data architecture and petabyte-scale storage systems
- Deep knowledge of settlement and reconciliation processes against real external data
