Job Summary
Leading a team of researchers, the full-time Principal Research Scientist - Risk will define a research agenda focused on system resilience and reliability, develop predictive models for infrastructure risk, and translate findings into actionable tools for utilities in a hybrid work environment.
Key responsibilities:
- Build and lead the applied research function for infrastructure risk and resilience
- Direct a team to establish standards for risk modeling and decision-making
- Develop predictive models for equipment damage, outage likelihood, and wildfire-related risks
Required qualifications:
- PhD in statistics, applied mathematics, physics, computer science, operations research, engineering, or related field
- Proven experience leading substantial research programs with influential publications or patents
- Extensive experience in probabilistic modeling and uncertainty quantification
- Substantial experience in modeling operational systems, particularly in power systems or catastrophe modeling
- Experience in building technical teams and setting research direction
