Principal Scientist - Data Insights

Job Summary

Serving as a cornerstone for scientific efforts, the full-time Principal Scientist - Data Insights will ensure the scientific coherence of a multimodal data platform while conducting rigorous data evaluations, prototyping new data offerings, and aligning client research objectives with actionable data strategies, with opportunities for remote work available.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct rigorous data evaluations, write technical code (SQL, R, Python), and prototype new data offerings within the Tempus Data Model
• Translate complex client research objectives into actionable clinico-genomic data strategies and ensure alignment with Tempus capabilities
• Serve as a core scientific authority, evaluating datasets, performing User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and building data insight reports

Required Qualifications

• PhD in a quantitative, NGS-related discipline with 6+ years of industry experience in precision medicine or related fields
• Deep expertise in at least one of oncology, neurology, or immunology, with experience analyzing large-scale clinico-genomic datasets
• Proven experience collaborating with data engineering teams to build large-scale relational databases and design advanced SQL data models
• Active expertise with computational modeling, including foundation models and generative AI architectures
• Proficiency in Python and/or R for reproducible scientific analysis and data visualization
