Principal Software Engineer

Job Summary

As a Principal Software Engineer focused on Core Platform Integration, this full-time remote position will lead the architectural direction for onboarding acquired companies onto Workday's cloud-agnostic platform, ensuring technical coherence and operational efficiency across multiple teams and acquisitions.

Key responsibilities

• Own the overall migration architecture and reference patterns for acquired teams, including compute, networking, data, and CI/CD practices
• Lead Architecture Review Boards to identify blockers, evaluate CSP-locked services, and produce effort estimates for senior leadership
• Establish a migration playbook with repeatable patterns to streamline future onboarding processes and mentor senior engineers

Required qualifications

• 12+ years of software and infrastructure engineering experience with expertise in AWS and GCP
• Proficiency in Go and Python, along with experience debugging Kubernetes operators
• Demonstrable experience leading M&A or large-scale platform migrations from evaluation to completion
• Mastery of Kubernetes at scale and authoritative command of Terraform across multi-account organizations
• A Bachelor's degree in a computer-related field or equivalent work experience
