Principal Software Engineer

Job Summary

Focused on enhancing Elasticsearch's distributed systems, the full-time Principal Software Engineer I will improve components for concurrent indexing, maintain cluster coordination for high performance, and push the limits of scalability while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Improve Elasticsearch components for concurrent and consistent indexing across multiple machines
• Maintain the cluster coordination system to ensure high performance and safety as nodes and data move
• Investigate performance and concurrency issues, proposing effective solutions

Required qualifications

• Strong background in distributed systems and consensus algorithms
• Proficiency in core Java and familiarity with data structures and concurrency constructs
• Deep technical knowledge of algorithms and complex distributed systems
• Experience managing projects involving multiple engineers
• Ability to own projects from design to implementation
