Principal Software Engineer

Job Summary

To lead the architectural transformation of a large-scale monolith into independently deployable services, the full-time Principal Software Engineer will manage integration patterns, API design, and data architecture while collaborating closely with application teams in a remote or onsite capacity.

Key responsibilities

• Define integration patterns and guide service boundary design to ensure reliable data flow across services
• Establish REST API design standards and own the API governance lifecycle, including versioning and contract validation
• Advise on schema design and data architecture, ensuring performant data access and zero-downtime schema evolution

Required qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in building distributed systems with hands-on software development
• Deep expertise in event-driven architecture and messaging infrastructure, such as Kafka or AWS services
• Strong knowledge of data architecture fundamentals across relational and NoSQL databases
• Experience in designing REST APIs with a focus on versioning and backward compatibility
• Proven ability to work directly with application teams to establish integration and data standards
