Principal Software Engineer

Job Summary

Setting the technical direction for telemetry data, the full-time Principal Software Engineer (Observability & Telemetry Data) will architect the telemetry data platform, define standards for data modeling, and integrate AI telemetry with Databricks, while working remotely or from the Bellevue, WA office.

Key responsibilities

• Architect the end-to-end design for telemetry data collection, modeling, and querying
• Define and drive the adoption of semantic conventions and schema standards across service teams
• Lead the migration to OpenTelemetry-based instrumentation and oversee data platform observability

Required qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in building and operating large-scale distributed systems or observability infrastructure
• Deep expertise in metrics, logs, and distributed tracing, including experience with major backend systems
• Demonstrated depth in large-scale data architecture and processing, including familiarity with Databricks and MLflow
• Practical experience with OpenTelemetry collectors and telemetry data pipelines
• A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical industry experience
