Production Editor

Job Summary

Working remotely, the full-time Production Editor will oversee a diverse range of graphic novels and comics from manuscript to bound book/ePub, managing production editorial tasks and collaborating with various departments.

Key responsibilities

• Handling production editorial work for original titles, including 1-color and 4-color formats
• Hiring and reviewing freelance copy editors, proofreaders, and indexers throughout the editorial process
• Performing quality checks on ebook files and copyediting additional materials such as jackets and reading guides

Required qualifications

• A minimum of 3 years' experience as a trade-book production editor or freelancer with comics experience
• Detailed familiarity with The Chicago Manual of Style and proficiency in modern copyediting standards
• Expertise in electronic copyediting using Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat PDF markup tools
• Experience working on graphic novels, comic books, or other 4-color publications
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively
