Production Editor

Job Summary

Detail-oriented and collaborative, the full-time hourly Production Editor will manage the editorial production process for children's titles, overseeing copyediting, proofreading, and final file preparation while working remotely or in a hybrid environment from select states.

Key responsibilities

• Own the editorial production process for assigned titles, ensuring smooth transitions from manuscript to final production
• Coordinate copyediting, proofreading, and page production to meet quality standards
• Build strong partnerships with cross-functional teams and manage freelance copyeditors and proofreaders

Required qualifications

• 3+ years of editorial production experience in a publishing environment
• Strong understanding of the publishing production process from manuscript to final files
• Proven project management skills with the ability to handle multiple complex projects
• Experience with project management tools and publishing systems, including Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat
• Experience in children's books and/or highly illustrated full-color projects is a plus
