Prompt Systems Engineer

Job Summary

Working remotely, the full-time Prompt Systems Engineer will design, test, and continuously improve prompts and system instructions for AI agents in educational contexts, collaborating with product managers and university stakeholders to enhance enrollment and student support processes.

Key responsibilities

• Write and maintain system prompts for AI agents across the student journey, ensuring clear and reliable agent behavior
• Build evaluation frameworks to measure agent performance and accuracy, utilizing observability tools to monitor prompt effectiveness
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate educational goals into actionable prompt-level instructions and contribute to best practices documentation

Required qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in prompt design for LLM-powered applications in a production environment
• Deep familiarity with prompt patterns and evaluation metrics for assessing agent performance
• Experience with LLM observability tools such as Langfuse or Weights & Biases
• Basic coding skills in JavaScript or Python for prompt automation and testing
• Understanding of Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) and its integration with LMS platforms
