Job Summary
A company is looking for a Public Benefit Specialist.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and coordinate application processes for uninsured/under-insured patients to determine eligibility for Medicaid or financial assistance
- Communicate effectively with patients to gather necessary documentation and follow up on submitted applications
- Maintain knowledge of state and federal program requirements and develop relationships with Medicaid caseworkers and revenue cycle departments
Required Qualifications
- 1-2 years of experience in the healthcare industry, specifically in patient financial interactions
- Understanding of Revenue Cycle processes including admissions, billing, and payments
- Knowledge of patient insurance processes, including authorizations and benefits verification
- Familiarity with medical terminology, CPT, or procedure codes
- High School Diploma or GED; a combination of post-secondary education and experience may be considered
